Established after direction from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The faculty is operates within the national policies of the country and programs and policies designed by the National Council for Knowledge and its Dissemination. It aims to of service to the national community and, in particular, the local community.

The faculty is to be part of the development of a healthy and good society. It has a particular interest in women's' development and eradicating illiteracy, as well as, through seminars and workshops, disseminating information about improving the standard of living for the people of South Kordofan. 

The Objectives

-                     The students are to acquire appropriate skills and knowledge to help communities and their development.

-                     To open new dimensions for group participation in the development of local community. To help create effective change and reform.

-                     To provide skills to combat illiteracy in communities, particularly local communities.

-                     To raise the awareness of the cultural, economic and religious aspects of community development. To take care of the community in terms of culture, in the areas of public arts and folklore, and to preserve the heritage of South Kordofan.

-                     To provide short term capacity building programs. To organize seminars, and in all areas of life based on community needs until the community becomes the initiator not receiver. For example, in fighting destructive traditional customs.

-                     To cooperate with the Government to develop and combat disasters in the communities and to push the peace process.

-                     To encourage self-sufficiency especially in un-empowered parts of the community. To give communities the tools with which to solve their own social problems.

-                     To work to solve family problems such as family break down.

-                     Promotion of skills and capabilities which will enable people to continue to improve their lives whether in rural or urban areas.

-                     Help create better-developed and informed rural communities whilst retaining the community's self-sufficiency and values. To respond to its needs effectively.

-                     To promote women skills and capacities.

The Method of Study in the Faculty

The syllabus has both practical and theoretical aspects:

-                     The Science of Public Health.

-                     Food Sciences including milk industry, juice industry, sweet industry. 

-                      Religious Studies.

-                      The Sciences of Environment Health

-                      Fine Arts and Design including design of clothes for men, women and children and handicrafts.

-                                             Developing administrative and technical staff as well as raising and improving social efficiency .

-                                             To enhance social and economic development in Southern Kordofan area .

B.Sc. Program ( four years period program ) :

-                                             B.Sc. in management development , composed of three options and these include :

-                                             B.Sc. in Social Development , composed of two options

-                                             B.Sc. in Economics and Rural Development

-                                             B.Sc. in Sociology and social service

Technical Diploma Program ( three years period program )

Twelve diplomas available :

-                                             Technical Diploma in Business  Administration

-                                             Technical Diploma in Accounting .

-                                             Technical Diploma in Economics and Rural Development .

Human Sciences and Development :

Three diplomas are available

-                                             Technical Diploma in Libraries and Information .

-                                             Technical Diploma in Arabic Language .

Capacity Building and Short Courses Program :

He program aims at enhancing human capacity building in different institutions found in the state whether governmental or non governmental  , civil or voluntary organizations etc .

Post Graduate Program :

          In coordination with faculty of post graduate studies the faculty undertakes post graduates studies programs to award high diploma or master degrees .

Study Centers Programs :

          The faculty plan to do academic programs in remote areas in the state by establishing scientific centers there . The program will start up with a three years period diploma as phase one . When . Now the details for all programs has been finished . It is expected to start as soon as the fees problem been resolved ,

Faculty intake system :

-                                             From the national intake office for universities in accordance with the conditions of succeed in Sudan Secondary Certificate .

-                                             Direct , part time and private intake from the state in coordination with scientific affairs office in the university and the national intake office for universities

-                                             For B.Sc. programs the competing students should have Sudan Secondary Certificate been obtained within two years complying to the prerequisites to admit to the particular program .

-                                             The same prerequisites been mentioned above will  be applicable in case of technical diploma admission .

-                                             Forms of applications will be taken from scientific affairs office to be filled up by admitted students accompanying with a copy and original of the following documents :

o                                                                  Sudanese certificate

o                                                                  Nationality

o                                                                  Birth Certificate

o                                                                  Two passport sized photos

o                                                                  Application fees

Study System :

The system adopted in the faculty is semester system . Every two semesters are considered as one phase or one year of study . The semester period is about three and a halve to four months .

Study Fees :

          According to the type of academic program the student will have to pay study fees at the beginning of every study phase .

Branches of the faculty:

The Faculty has many branches in order to reach many communities. These are:

 - Branch of Kadugli

      - Branch of Dallanj.

 - Branch of Abujebeha

 - Branch of Rashad.

 - Branch of Talodi

-                     Two branches in Western Kordofan state and Abyei.

-                     15 branches in big villages in the state
